How did we get here?
A brief history of gross sexual and economic misconduct amongst MTW’s missionaries here in Guadalajara, Mexico.
It shouldn’t surprise anyone that MTW Director Steve Robertson helped cover up the grooming and rape of an underage girl that happened in the home of one of his missionaries. Steve has a long history covering up this type of behavior here in Guadalajara.
Along with fellow MTW missionary Lawrence Trotter, Steve Robertson covered up the adultery of their fellow-MTW missionary Paul Fisher, allowing him to continue to serve in public ministry while hiding his sin from the local congregation.
When it was discovered that MTW missionary Paul Fisher was actually a serial-adulterer who had affairs with multiple women, he remained unrepentant and was eventually excommunicated from the local church. While, of course MTW needed to remove Paul Fisher from their official list of missionaries to maintain appearances, fellow MTW missionary Kenton Wood simply rehired this unrepentant, serial-adulterer (who was living separated from his wife) to preach and lead worship across town in one of the congregations of his church (Rey de Reyes). MTW Director Steve Robertson knew that MTW’s Kenton Wood had hired ex-MTW’s Paul Fisher in these conditions. This is how MTW operates here in Guadalajara under Steve Robertson’s “leadership”.
This isn’t an isolated case. When I begged the MTW missionaries to help restore the shattered life and marriage of the wife of one of the deacons (named Beto) in the church they helped plant, MTW’s Lawrence Trotter and Steve Robertson once again swept everything under the rug, pretending that they couldn’t be sure if this woman was having an affair or not despite the fact that she had abandoned her husband and daughters and was openly living with her lover. Steve later tried to put me under discipline for not going along with this sham and for trying to get this family the help that they needed. Seeing how Steve and Lawrence protected the adulterer instead of the victims, the deacon not only left the church but left the faith completely.
MTW director Steve Robertson also put his friend Humberto Carrillo in a position of sole access to the local church’s bank accounts. Humberto then embezzled at least 1.25 million pesos (specifically of MTW donations) laundering the money through false companies here in Mexico. When I began to investigate the theft, Steve personally threatened me with the use of his position in MTW to fracture my relationship with our PCA supporting church unless I stopped looking into the theft. I continued my investigation and Steve later made good on his threat to personally work to damage my family’s relationship with our supporting PCA church. Why was Steve helping to cover-up the embezzlement and laundering of donations given through MTW?
Speaking of fraud and financial theft, MTW missionary Kenton Wood (who hired the serial adulterer Paul Fisher) defrauded a local pastor named Carlos Amaro out of a significant amount of his retirement money. MTW director Steve Robertson (as Kenton’s MTW supervisor) knows about this yet as always has supported this abuse by turning a blind eye.
After knowingly placing an unrepentant serial-adulterer in a position of authority in his church, MTW missionary Kenton Wood then placed his adult step son as leader over the youth group. This man groomed and then raped one of the underage girls in Kenton’s home. Kenton has repeatedly lied and manipulated others to cover up the sexual assault.
The distraught father of the sexual assault victim appealed directly to MTW for help. Unfortunately, instead of contacting someone of integrity who would have helped him, he contacted MTW director Steve Robertson who turned his back on the victim and her family, protecting the rapist. I have a copy of the email exchange between the rape-victim’s father and along with the father’s testimony can prove that Steve Robertson, in his official capacity as a MTW director, has helped protect the rapist and silence the victims. (See "Evidence" button below)
When MTW turned its back on the rape victim and her family, the family appealed to the local presbytery here in Mexico for help. What they didn’t know was that three of the four men in leadership over the presbytery at the time were pastors of churches planted by MTW. As multiple witnesses are willing to testify, the presbytery voted to not only suppress the letter from the victim’s family but to never receive any further accusations from them without the express permission of Kenton Wood’s church “Rey de Reyes”.

All of this is evil.
Now you might ask yourself, “How could one possibly get an entire presbytery to turn their backs on a rape victim and help protect the rapist?” For that we will need to take a moment to see what happens to those who speak out about MTW’s misconduct.
