The corruption spreads to the PCA

Why does the PCA's concern for women's issues and issues of race suddenly disappear when the rapist and those protecting him are politically well-connected?

While the rape of a minor in the home of a MTW missionary (along with embezzlement of MTW donations and MTW missionaries hiring known unrepentant serial-adulterers, etc.) can be covered up in MTW-controlled foreign presbyteries, certainly MTW is accountable to the PCA, especially since they claim to be under the PCA's authority. Right?

Right?

As mentioned in the section "Suppression of the Truth", MTW was aware of the rape, embezzlement, and fraud at the highest levels and yet continues to permit their missionary Kenton Wood (who continues to falsely present himself as an ordained minister with MTW approval) to victimize numerous people. Will the PCA do the right thing and help make these victims of MTW whole?

While I and others continue to hope so, the answer so far is “no”.

Kenton Wood is virtually untouchable since he is not directly accountable to any PCA church. However, I brought this case to the attention of MTW Director Steve Robertson’s presbytery (Nashville). Despite having been given irrefutable proof of these sins, scandals and civil crimes, the Nashville Presbytery’s Committee on Judicial Business did not conduct a single interview or consider a single piece of evidence before simply dismissing the complaint.

My petitions for any kind of documentation about this supposed official “decision” have been directly denied with Nashville simply stating that I have no rights to any information about the case whatsoever because I don’t have judicial standing in the PCA. Due to this and comments made by then-moderator Dr. George Grant, it seems highly likely that the rape (and Steve Robertson’s involvement in the cover-up) were never officially investigated although Dr. Grant and others seemingly lied saying that it did receive an official review.

I then appealed to Tim LeCroy of the DASA committee. Certainly this man who has given beautiful speeches about protecting victims would never participate in a rape cover-up. Well, after initially offering to help, once Dr. LeCroy heard that Steve Robertson was involved, he suddenly refused to do anything. He later informed me that he knew Steve's family and went to seminary with Steve Robertson’s brother. Dr. LeCroy didn't just ignore me but also blocked me from contacting him further. The DASA committee (for survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault) simply isn’t interested in protecting victims if the abuser and/or their enablers are politically well-connected. In the DASA committee’s own words...

“Mishandling of spiritual abuse by a church and/or presbytery produces very serious repercussions for the victims, for the congregation, and for the honor of God’s name. The emotional, physical, and spiritual harm done to victims of abusive authority is further compounded when those charged with caring for God’s people fail to respond adequately to their cries for help.” To Dr. Tim LeCroy I simply say, "Physician, heal thyself".

I then appealed to Bryan Chapell as the stated clerk of the PCA, sending him 59 pages of documentation. Dr. Chapell simply informed me that since I have no judicial standing in the PCA, neither he nor anyone else from the PCA is obligated to address these issues. I would assume that any true church of Christ the Great Shepherd would seek to bind up the lost and protect the sheep from the wolves who have harmed them rather than hide behind technicalities in the BCO. Sadly, so far that has not been the case.

It is curious how much ink has been spilled recently in the PCA about women’s issues and issues of racial justice yet when an underage minority girl is raped by the leader of a PCA/MTW church, the PCA is deafeningly silent. Will the entire PCA collude to protect men like MTW director Steve Robertson who have protected the rapist and who have openly slandered those who have worked to make the victims whole?

Will PCA churches continue to support MTW missionaries like Kenton Wood who continue to defraud others, put known sexual predators in positions of spiritual authority over the vulnerable, and protect the rapist of an underage girl?

Has the PCA become no different than the Roman Catholic church who hide sexual assault and protect the system itself over the glory of Christ?

Who loves the Lord’s Church enough to take steps to stop this cancer and restore integrity to the PCA?
